Thank you for the notice, bro. I’ll fix it as soon as possible and get back to you shortly.

The FBI has warned about potential security risks tied to some smartphone apps developed overseas.

The agency didn’t name specific apps, but several popular ones have been under scrutiny before. And despite those concerns, millions of people are still using them every day.

That has some users asking a simple question: If I delete one of these apps… what do I replace it with? One option getting more attention is Edits from Meta Platforms.

A familiar experience for CapCut users

If you create videos on your phone for social media, you may already be using CapCut. It’s one of the most popular video editing apps in the world.

Edits is designed to feel familiar.

    You can:

    ● Trim video clips

    ● Add music

    ● Record voiceovers

    ● Automatically generate captions

Adjusting color and lighting is simple with sliders, and the app is free to use.

In many ways, Edits matches what CapCut can do.

Where CapCut still has the edge

CapCut is still ahead when it comes to viral templates.

Those pre-built edits are a big reason videos spread quickly on platforms like TikTok. Edits includes templates too, but they’re not as polished or widely used.

If your goal is to jump on trends or create fast, eye-catching videos, CapCut still has the advantage.

    The feature that stands out

Edits does offer something CapCut doesn’t really have: a built-in teleprompter.

You can type out what you want to say, and the words scroll on your screen while you record. It’s a simple feature, but it makes a big difference if you’re talking on camera.

No memorizing lines. No looking down at notes. Just read and record.

    Built for Instagram and Facebook

Edits is tightly integrated with Meta’s platforms, so posting to Instagram or Facebook is quick and easy. You can create and publish without exporting or moving files around.

For people already using those platforms, that alone makes the app worth trying.

    The bigger picture

Switching apps doesn’t mean you’re avoiding data collection. It means you’re choosing a different company to trust.

But for those rethinking what’s on their phone, Edits gives users another option without giving up the ability to create and share videos.

    Worth a look

Edits has seen a surge in downloads in recent months, climbing near the top of the charts in both the Apple App Store and Google Play.

It may not replace CapCut for everyone.

But for many users, it’s more than enough. Especially if your primary use for videos is on Instagram and Facebook.
