Bangladesh Bank introduced agent banking in 2013 as a safe alternative banking service delivery channel, which is now offered by 30 banks. At the end of the March 2026 quarter, despite a decline in the number of agents and outlets, agent banking deposit balances amounted to Tk50,563 crore, marking a 2.45% increase from Tk49,356 crore in the previous quarter.
