Thank you for the notice, bro. I’ll fix it as soon as possible and get back to you shortly.

Institutional capital rarely shifts without deep conviction, yet over the past five years, the reallocation toward digital assets has been unmistakable. Traditional finance has expanded its crypto exposure from roughly 36% in 2020 to more than 71% by 2025, which represents a relatively fast rate of adoption compared with many previous asset classes. This shift hasn’t just influenced how some institutions approach portfolio construction and assess emerging asset classes.

Few embody that transition more clearly than former hedge fund manager Raoul Pal. Once known for his global macro playbook and currency-cycle models, Pal has become one of the most influential voices arguing that blockchain networks are the logical next stage of financial infrastructure. To him, crypto is no longer a speculative frontier. It is the technological backbone for value transfer, liquidity, and global settlement in the decades ahead.

Pal will bring this strategic lens to the main stage at Binance Blockchain Week 2025, held in Dubai this December. Joining a distinguished roster of thought leaders shaping the institutional narrative around digital assets, his participation underscores how macro investors increasingly view crypto as an integral part of finance’s evolution.

The event provides a platform for forward-looking discussions on accelerating network adoption, on-chain innovation, and structural macroeconomic pressures. As interest converges at this global forum, it becomes clear that the center of gravity in finance is shifting toward the digital economy.

For Pal, the convergence of these factors forms what he calls a “trend that continues to attract attention, despite ongoing uncertainty and structural challenges.”

    From TradFi to Crypto Advocacy

Transitioning from TradFi into the cryptocurrency space demands a clear vision for emerging digital markets. From his role as a hedge fund manager, Raoul Pal recognized a growing demand for crypto investments. To date, 96% of institutional investors acknowledge the long-term prospects of digital assets.

The move to embrace crypto fully is rooted in the industry’s inability to provide streamlined services to institutional and family offices.  As blockchain usage expanded, investment channels remained complex, creating operational bottlenecks that limited institutional capital participation. Thus, Raoul’s move into the crypto space was driven by the potential to increase access to institutional capital allocation.

In his assessment, ‘crypto and technology’ constitute the most prominent opportunities in the current market, positioning crypto not as a speculative asset but as an infrastructure play. According to Sygnum research, 57% of institutions now view crypto as a diversification tool rather than a short-term investment, reinforcing Raoul Pal’s view of the growing relevance of blockchain in institutional portfolios.

    Institutional Gateways and Growing Access

Institutional access to crypto investment has seen yearly growth, with 55% of hedge funds having exposure in 2025, up from 47% in 2024, per a PWC report. Even with increased exposure, Raoul Pal has suggested that some investors may consider allocations above 2%, noting that higher exposure could increase potential returns, while acknowledging that risk levels vary depending on market conditions and investor profile.

According to a CoinShares report, institutions allocate 1% to digital assets, despite seeing them as “good value”. The reluctance is primarily due to crypto’s volatility. According to Raoul Pal, some analysts have warned that further downturns could result in significant price declines, based on historical volatility in previous market cycles. There are indications that volatility has moderated at times alongside growing institutional participation, though crypto markets remain subject to sharp price swings and elevated risk.

Raoul Pal’s view is reflected by other industry participants and highlights how early industry figures have benefited from Bitcoin’s adoption cycle, thereby contributing to the asset’s growing visibility and institutional adoption.

    Beyond Bitcoin and Towards Blockchain

Some long-term projections estimate that the crypto market could expand substantially over the coming decade, though such forecasts are speculative and depend on regulatory, technological, and macroeconomic factors, up from today’s $4 trillion in 2025. According to Raoul Pal, institutions are gaining exposure to the main assets through ETFs and a centralized system, but Bitcoin doesn’t fully grasp the industry’s complexity.

As Raoul Pal views it, crypto is an early-stage technology whose valuation is driven by adoption. Moreover, recent investments in blockchain infrastructure have shown measurable results. One example is the stablecoin market, where total supply has expanded from $205 billion to more than $300 billion in 2025.

Moreover, Raoul Pal highlights that new smart contract opportunities can transform outdated off-chain systems and convert them to on-chain systems. As a reference, 76% of institutions intend to invest in tokenized assets within the next year. The statement emphasized that democratized access to crypto investing will generate new capital inflows, further fueling the industry’s growth.

Investing involves risk and your investment may lose value. Past performance gives no indication of future results. These statements do not constitute and cannot replace investment advice.
